Training objectives
Target audience
Psychologists (clinical and occupational) and psychiatrists who will carry out the psychological assessments and help set up the support programme for Commercial Air Transport operators.
Course duration
Total duration 18h, including :
- Classroom-based: 14 hours (2 days)
- A320 simulator: 4 hours (practical scenarios)

CAT.GEN.MPA.175: Psychological assessment of pilots
CAT.GEN.MPA.215: Support programme
Regulatory objectives, obligations of the operator and healthcare staff
How an airline works and how it is organised
Internal structure of a commercial air transport operator
HR processes, operations, crisis management, security
Day 1 - Afternoon (13:30 - 17:00)
Operating environment for aircrew
Duties and constraints of pilots, cabin crew and maintenance staff
Psychological impact of specific work environments
Human factors and aviation professions
Study of typical profiles (pilots / cabin crew)
Pressure, stress, sleep, hierarchy, fatigue, responsibility
Day 2 - Morning (9.00am - 12.30pm)
Tools and principles for the psychological assessment of pilots
Analysis grids, tests, structured and semi-structured interviews
Case studies and interview simulations
Implementation of a support programme
Key stages: detection, guidance, support
Post-incident / long-term psychological follow-up

The psychologist's responsibilities in the aeronautical environment
Ethics, civil and criminal liability
Decision-making and report writing within a regulated framework
Practical scenarios for managing critical cases
Role-playing, group discussions
Sharing experience and best practice
A320 simulator session (4 hours) - Aix - Bordeaux breakdown
Real-life situation:
Observation and analysis of pilot behaviour in simulated flight
Debriefing with qualified instructors
Behavioural analysis :
Identifying weak signals, managing stress and the unexpected
Link between observations and psychological assessment
